Wildflowers at the Brooks Estate Beginning Birding at the Brooks EstateIllustrated lecture on Thursday, April 22, 2010.

The Brooks Estate is known locally and regionally as an interesting and fruitful place to look for birds. The property attracts both the novice and expert birder throughout the year. Audrey Stanwood will speak about some of the birds one might hope to see at the Brooks Estate. Meet at the Shepherd Brooks Manor at the end of the access drive, from Grove Street (blue sign/green gate. Outdoor and indoor tasks! Come work an hour, a morning, or whatever you wish! Outdoor pruning tools, mops, rags, etc. are always welcome. We provide gloves and bags, but bring your own gloves if you have a special pair. As always, snacks and soft drinks/water will be served. Do not park in the Brooks Estate unless you need handicapped parking at the Manor. Do not park in the Cemetery! Meet at the Shepherd Brooks Manor at the end of the access drive, from Grove Street (blue sign/green gate. Guided walks in (first floor) and outside the Manor (1880), including the West Porch. The Manor is located at the end of the access drive which runs from the green gate on Grove Street in Medford. The walk up the drive is very pleasant. If you need to park in the Estate, there is a small lot on the left side of the access drive, across from the Boardwalk. Please do not park along the access drive or in front of the various gates. There are a few additional parking spots near the Manor, but most spaces are reserved there for handicapped parking. Do not park in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Getting there. Donations are most welcome. An annual tradition in Medford. Free to all. We supply the hamburgers, hot dogs, and sodas, and ask people to bring junk food, salads and cookie-type desserts. But you do not have to bring anything to attend. Also includes our annual Raffle and lots of fun! The Manor yard is located at the end of the access drive, which runs from the green gate/blue sign on Grove Street in Medford.
